As the lorry was travelling northbound along the motorway at about 11.30pm towards High Wycombe it was flashed by a dark-coloured BMW between junctions 2 and 3.
The driver of the lorry pulled over, thinking it was a police car, and a man with a high-visibility jacket and cap got out of the car and approached the cab.

Police investigating the robbery of a delivery van in Hatfield are appealing for witnesses and information.
The incident took place at approximately 6.20pm on Tuesday, May 10, when a yellow City Link van was driving along Comet Way towards Hatfield, having just left the A1M slip road.
A white Vauxhall Insignia VXR over-took the City Link van and slowed to a stop, causing the van to also come to a halt.
Two offenders got out of the Vauxhall and forced their way into the City Link van.
One of the offenders pushed the driver out of his seat and drove off with him in the van, along with the other offender.

On Monday 4/7/11 a lorry parked on the Drayton Fields Industrial Estate, Daventry, Northamptonshire was targeted for it's load of clothing.
After parking up the previous evening the driver later woke at 0500hrs to discover that holes have been cut in the curatins and pallets of clothing stolen.

Police in Bradford are appealing for witnesses following the theft of 17 Hotpoint washing machines from a lorry parked on Wharfedale Road in the Euroway Industrial Estate.
It is believed the items worth hundreds of pounds were stolen between 2:40am and 03:00am in the early hours of this morning, Monday 1 August 2011.
A hole was cut in the side curtain of the Scania HGV before the brand new appliances were unloaded one by one through the rear doors.
The suspects which are described as three white men were disturbed by the driver of the lorry before making away in a similar sized vehicle

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a Romanian lorry driver had £30,000 worth of slimming pills stolen from his heavy goods vehicle (HGV) in Newport Pagnell.
The offence took place between 11pm on Sunday (7/8) and 7.30am yesterday (8/8).
The lorry driver had parked off the North Crawley Road to rest for the night before making a drop off at an industrial estate the next day.
He slept in his cab overnight and when he woke the next morning he found that the curtain side of his trailer had been cut open and a large quantity of Xipisan Plus slimming tablets packaged in blister packs had been stolen.
Xipisan Plus is a natural health product which, when taken orally, form an expanding gel in the stomach and is used as a dietary aid to make the user feel full.
The tablets are sold by the company only in the Republic of Ireland.
They are not prescribed medication.
