Following a period of inactivity it seems as if some these services have become of interest again. Overnight 23 -24 Feb 2009 a vehicle was attacked but no property stolen.

Overnight vehicles subject to curtain slashing and bolt cropping.

Over the weekend 29 - 30 January 2010 a curtain sided vehicle was attacked and an unknown quantity of 40" televisions stolen.

A further attack on a box trailer occurred overnight 3 and 4 February 2010 when a further quantity of TV's was stolen.

5 offences at Welford Truckstop. Property was stolen from one of the vehicles - coffee makers.

4th November 2009

Reports of several attempts at the rear doors of HGV’s parked at location.

In each case seals and padlocks have been forced and some items taken.

Information from the drivers indicates the involvement of a mini cab where passenger gets out and checks the HGV trailer doors prior to thefts.

During the last 12 months 16 theft offences have been reported to Leicestershire Police from vehicles parked in lay-bys on the A42. There are 10 lay-bys in this area.

The majority of offences involve curtain slashings.

10 of those were in the last 6 months.

4 occurred last month.

Decemember 2009

Overnight 10th and 12th December 2009 2 vehicles were attacked and on both occasions a substantial quantity of alcohol was stolen.

Vehicle paked on services overnight 4-5 January 2010 subjected to curtain slashing. Quantity of beer stolen.

Between 0230 hrs and 0510 hrs 6th January 2010 vehicle subjected to curtain slashing and quantity of baby bottles stolen.

Research suggests that at least 5 similar offences have occurred within this area within the last 5 months.

3 Instances recorded of vehicles parked overnight having loads stolen. Product targeted range from Toothbrushes to Games Console Accessories.

Between 21st Jan 2010 and 10th Feb 2010 4 instances of lorry load crime have been recorded by police. In one instance 210 boxes of clothes were stolen.

On each occasion the vehicles concerned were parked up overnight.

2 vehicles parked at Jacks Hill Cafe on the A5. Property Stolen.

Overnight 15-16 February 2010 a vehicle parkednear Hulcote had its curtains slashed and household furnishings stolen.

Overnight 21st January 2010 offenders have slashed open the back of vehicle and stolen 210 boxes of clothes, about 90% of the property in the vehicle.

Overnight 16th February 2010 a parked vehicle was attacked and a hole was cut in side of trailer. An unspecified amount of cider was stolen.
