Logistics Security Network tackles the problem of secure parking27th July 2010 |
| The Logistics Security Network (LSN) hosted a secure parking seminar in May 2010 to raise awareness of the chronic lack of secure parking in the UK. The event was held in Wakefield, West Yorkshire and focused on how to protect staff, vehicles and loads whilst parked. It was a great success with 46 delegates attending from across the UK. Chrys Rampley, Road Haulage Association, presented a national view on secure parking and Barrie Tozer from TruckersWorld provided the drivers perspective. Howard Smith described HaulNET - a web based solution for secure parking and Phil Taylor from the British Parking Association spoke about the criteria for a Parkmark accreditation. Helen Parr from LSN commented “A load at rest is a load at risk. It is important that drivers and operators understand the risks of parking in unsecure locations. This seminar helped businesses identify secure parking facilities, and addressed the issues faced by drivers during rest periods.” Following the seminar, LSN has distributed a Secure Parking survey to provide greater understanding of the problems faced by commercial drivers as they transport goods throughout the UK and across Europe. Please spare a few minutes to complete the survey and share your views and concerns by visiting www.lsn-uk.org. The results of the survey will be submitted to the Department for Transport in September 2010 and made available to download from the LSN website. LSN operates predominantly across Yorkshire and Humberside and aims to help reduce the negative impact of crime across the supply chain. LSN is one of a number of Business Collaboration Networks operated by the Business Crime Reduction Centre and Yorkshire Forward*.
